An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but Applesauce Chicken keeps bland meals away! Savory chicken seared to a tantalizing golden brown is coated in a spicy, smoky sauce with sweet and chunky applesauce providing a luscious base... it just sounds exciting from the ingredients list alone! Even better, Applesauce Chicken is just as easy as picking an apple off the tree, and needs less than 20 minutes to make! Instead of an apple a day, you might just make this delectable dinner!
Ingredients
- 4 (6-ounce) chicken breast halves, boneless and skinless
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2/3 cup chunky applesauce
- 2/3 cup spicy barbeque sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
Directions
Step 1 -Sprinkle the chicken with pepper.
Step 2 -Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 3 -Add the chicken and brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side.
Step 4 -In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, barbeque sauce, brown sugar, and chili powder.
Step 5 -Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
Step 6 -Cover and cook until the chicken reaches 165 degrees F internally, about 7-10 minutes.
Step 7 -Serve.
