About
Psst. We're gonna let you in on a little secret. Our Family Secret Cookies that is. You have to promise that you won't ever tell anyone about how perfectly sweet they are. They're the delicious epitome of nostalgia and feeling at home at the same time. Ah, yeah. You're right. These are too good not to share. Go ahead and make our beloved Family Secret Cookies and share them with everyone you love because that's what they were made for!
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup peanut butter chips
- 3/4 cup toffee bits
- flakey sea salt, optional, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3 -In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 2 minutes.
Step 4 -Add the eggs and vanilla to the sugar mixture and mix to combine. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula, if needed.
Step 5 -Add the flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt to the egg mixture and mix to combine.
Step 6 -Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and toffee bits to the batter and mix to combine.
Step 7 -Use a 1/4 measuring cup to portion the dough.
Step 8 -Use your hands to form the portions into balls.
Step 9 -Use the palm of your hand to flatten each ball into a thick disc.
Step 10 -Place the discs on the prepared baking sheets, six at a time.
Step 11 -Top the discs with sea salt.
Step 12 -Bake the cookies until the edges are set and slightly golden brown, about 9-11 minutes. The centers will still appear slightly underdone, but they will continue cooking on the baking sheet.
Step 13 -Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes.
Step 14 -Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 15 -Serve.
