Key Lime Pie is a classic summer dessert that will transport you to a tropical climate with each delicious bite! Tastier and fresher than anything you can buy at a store, this is a homemade confection guaranteed to delight you; it’s tangy, creamy, and oh-so-indulgent. Best of all, it only takes 30 minutes to make! Serve this yummy Key Lime Pie chilled with a bit of lime zest on top for a transformative dessert experience!
Ingredients
- For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted
- For the pie filling:
- 28 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup light sour cream
- 3/4 cup Key lime juice
- 4 Key limes or 2 limes, zested
- For the topping:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- lime zest, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a small bowl, mix together the graham cracker crumbs, the granulated sugar, and the butter.
Step 3 -Press the crust mixture into a pie pan and bake for 7 minutes.
Step 4 -Cool the pie pan for 30 minutes.
Step 5 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 6 -In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, the sour cream, the lime juice, and the zest from 4 of the Key limes.
Step 7 -Pour the filling mixture into the crust and bake for 10 minutes.
Step 8 -Allow the pie to cool and chill for 3 hours in the refrigerator.
Step 9 -In a stand mixer, beat the heavy cream and the powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
Step 10 -Add the vanilla and beat again to combine.
Step 11 -Spread the whipped cream over the pie and top with the extra lime zest.
Step 12 -Serve!
