One of the things that always seems to conjure up great memories is the sweet time we spent cooking with our family. Papa's Prime Rib holds some deliciously special memories for us, and we would like to share that with you. Papa always picked the best cut of prime rib roast that he could find, then he would prepare a butter-herb mixture to cover it in. He was patient and the end result was an easily sliced, fork-tender, mouthwatering, and satisfying piece of prime rib... every single time. Papa's Prime Rib is the perfect recipe to help start a new tradition of memories for you and your family today! Believe us when we say that it's worth every minute!
Ingredients
- 1 (4-pound) prime rib roast
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Herbes de Provence
- kosher salt, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Let the roast rest until it reaches room temperature, about 2-4 hours.
Step 2 -Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Step 3 -In a medium bowl, add the butter, the black pepper, and the Herbes de Provence and mix until blended.
Step 4 -Evenly spread the butter mixture over the entire roast.
Step 5 -Generously sprinkle the salt over the roast.
Step 6 -Bake the roast, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
Step 7 -Turn the oven off, leave the oven door closed, and let the roast sit, about 2 hours.
Step 8 -Slice the roast and serve.
