The Ultimate Loaded Potato Meatloaf Casserole is lavish in its richness, from the savory meatloaf base to the creamy, fluffy garlic mashed potato layer to the bubbly cheese topping! Then the Ultimate Loaded Potato Meatloaf Casserole tops even its own decadence with a sprinkling of bacon bits, bringing the meatiness to the next level! This is a feast disguised as a home-cooked dish and one you'll be looking forward to over and over again!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef, extra lean
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup seasoned Italian bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cups garlic mashed potatoes, cooked
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese blend, shredded
- 1/4 cup bacon bits
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, the onions, the brown sugar, and the Worcestershire sauce, using your clean hands.
Step 3 -Add the breadcrumbs and the egg to the meat mixture and continue mixing with your hands.
Step 4 -Press the meat mixture evenly into an 8-inch square baking dish.
Step 5 -Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture using a rubber spatula.
Step 6 -Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
Step 7 -Sprinkle the cheese with the bacon bits.
Step 8 -Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Step 9 -Bake the casserole for 30 minutes.
Step 10 -Remove the foil and bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden, for about 10 minutes.
Step 11 -Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving.
