Pillows, comforters, and teddy bears... some of the things you might think of when you think of things that get stuffed to the brink! Well, we know after just one bite of this You'll-Be-Stuffed Recipe, that will definitely be the first thing that comes to mind from now on... especially after you are stuffed by it! Layers of juicy chicken breast, tender green beans, and a flavorful stuffing mixture are covered with a droolworthy, creamy sauce and baked together for an I-can't-stop-eating-this taste! You'll-Be-Stuffed Recipe... the name says it all! Let's eat!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 1 stick celery, sliced
- 3 sausage links, cooked and finely diced
- 2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, patted dry and cut into bite-size pieces
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon ground sage
- 2 1/2 cups frozen green beans, thawed and patted dry
- 6 ounces packaged dry stuffing mix
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a small skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
Step 4 -Add the onions, the celery, and the sausage to the melted butter and sauté until the veggies have softened, about 5 minutes. Set them aside.
Step 5 -Add the chicken pieces to the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 6 -Lightly sprinkle the salt and the black pepper over the chicken pieces.
Step 7 -In a large bowl, add the cream of chicken soup, the sour cream, the milk, the thyme, and the sage and stir to combine.
Step 8 -Pour the cream mixture over the chicken pieces.
Step 9 -Sprinkle the green beans over the cream mixture.
Step 10 -In a clean, large bowl, add the stuffing mix, the chicken broth, and the sausage-veggie mixture and stir to combine.
Step 11 -Sprinkle the stuffing mixture over the green bean layer.
Step 12 -Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the chicken mixture, about 40 minutes.
Step 13 -Discard the aluminum foil and bake the chicken mixture, about 5 minutes.
Step 14 -Serve.
